This is a condition that exists from birth. It may be the result of genetics or birth related issues. This can result in tearing, droopy eyelids, orbital disorders, and eyelid deformities.
Droopy Upper Eyelids (Ptosis)
The Upper Eyelid Cosmetic Lift removes excess skin and repositions or removes fatty tissue that causes a tired look. Depending on the degree of droopiness (ptosis) this may result in significant or functional peripheral visual problems.
Eyelid and Facial Spasms (Blepharospasm)
This is a condition where there is a frequent blinking or involuntary spasms of either both sides or one side of the face. Eyelid and facial spasms can cause loss of vision because of the increased blink rate, eye irritations, and eyebrow spasms. Frequently Botox is used to treat the abnormal spasms.

Very professional and efficient. Had cataract surgery and was very pleased with the care and results. Very good on follow up.
Various lumps and bumps can be found on and around the eyelids, eyebrows and face. Consultation is needed to determine if this requires removal, partial removal or biopsy or if it can be observed. When removal or biopsy is needed the specimen will be sent to the laboratory to determine if the lesion is benign or malignant. Benign lesions can usually be observed or simply removed. Malignant lesions usually require additional treatment, which will be discussed with the patient in detail. The majority of eyelid, eyebrow and facial lesions can be removed or biopsied in an office setting. Most office based excisions can be performed without anesthesia, stitches or patches.
This would include eyelids that turn out (ectropian) or turn in (entropian) or lid malpositions that create asymmetry.
Ingrown Eyelashes (Trichiasis)
This condition can be either from lashes growing in a wrong direction or from the eyelids being in a poor position. This can cause chronic eye irritation, discharge, and possibly infection. Treatment can include permanent removal of abnormal eyelashes or correction of the eyelid malposition.
The orbit is the bony socket that contains the eyeball. Orbital tumors are abnormalities within the bony socket, but outside of the eye.
Thyroid Related Eye Problems
Patients can have hyper or hypo thyroid conditions which can cause swelling of the eyelids and bulging of the eyes. Eyelid retraction and prominent eyes can cause a variety of both functional and cosmetic issues.
Both children and adults can have excess tearing in one or both eyes. The causes may include both eyelid and problems with the tear duct drainage system. Treatment may involve non-surgical and surgical solutions.
Upper Eyelid Functional Blephroplasty
The Upper Eyelid Functional Blephroplasty removes excess skin that is causing peripheral visual loss.
Loss or Deformity of the Globe (or Eyeball)
In cases where there is a loss of vision and a deformity of the globe, or chronic eye pain, this can necessitate the removal of the globe or globe contents. Considerations for both function and cosmetics are important considerations to discuss with the patient. Procedures in this category could include enucleation, evisceration, and ocular and orbital implants.
There are many causes of eyelid scarring including prior cancer removal or treatment, trauma, burn, and from prior surgery. The result can cause an abnormal position of the eyelids, eyebrows, and periorbital structure. This can result in reduced or loss of vision, tearing, eye irritation, and eyelash touch to the eye.
Trauma can result in injuries of the globe (eyeball) or the surrounding facial structures including the bones and soft tissue. Treatment could include fracture repair and or soft tissue repair and reconstruction.
When a lid mass is determined to be cancerous most are treated by complete removal and repair. Some can be removed and repaired in one procedure, other patients need a more comprehensive approach which could include Mohs technique or a hospital based multidisciplinary clinic.
